We explored the many alleys and bridges that day, then went to the big square that had all the fancy shops, and the Dodges palace. We saw a bit of the palace, but focused most of our attention on the big tower that fell down( and killed a cat =( ) a few 100 years ago. They rebuilt it, and it looks pretty big and cool. After that, we went to this fancy as cafe thing.( it has been there since 1720!) I had a really good tiramisu, cam had chocolate cake, dad had a cheesecake, and we all shared some hot chocolate while dad had mulled wine.
| one of the many awesome bridges! |
For dinner, we searched around for ages, and when we couldn't find anything cheap, we made the mistake of going to the restaurant of the hotel next door. It was pretty loud because all the British teens on a school trip were there. It was average food, and mainly because it was in Venice, it was really expensive...
The next day, we had a not so savory hotel breakfast, which was then followed by a very savory trip to the local art gallery. It had pictures from the 800's+!
Mum took a special liking to a self portrait that looked like the man was trying to get out of the frame!
Then for lunch, we found this cute little cute little cafe, with good panini's, sandwiches and hot chocolate. We explored a bit more of the town, then had a quite spectacular dinner.
We all shared starters of anchovies and mussel linguine. For mains, I had a really good gnocchi with shrimp and tomato cream sauce. Camille had fried prawns, mum had this polenta dish, and dad had squid inked pasta! Then we shared 2 tiramisus.
The next day(our last full in Venice), we had yet another bad brekkie, followed by big walks around town and some the most epic churches in the world! We then went to the Ghetto, which is where the Jews of the city where signed to. The had signs everywhere telling about how they were captured 2 by the Nazis (one right at the end of the war), and how only 70 out of 1700 came back. To cheer us a bit, we had a good meal with good hot bread at a local restaurant/pizzeria .
For dinner, we found a little place in the part of town we didn't know that well. Dad had fried squid, mum fried fish, cam had 4 cheese pizza, and me pizza topped with chips!
The next day, we headed off on the train back to land, and then another 8 hours in the car...

Hey guys, I finally figured out how to upload photos!Hope you like them!

Hi Zali!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry, haven't posted anything for a while.
Venice is where I want to go more than any where in the world, so...need I say more?
I promised I'd tell you all about high school so, here goes...
1. the homework is like a never ending tsunami(I'm 1/2 drowned already).
2. WE DON'T HAVE TO DO SWIMMING SPORTS IF WE DON'T WANT TO!!
3. I'm learning Saxophone for only $90 a year.
4. yoga is considered a sport. I know, cool huh?
5. you can issue DVDs from the library.
Well, anyway, enough of school.
Missing you, Caitlyn xxx
P.S. I'm in the HSM2 stage show production and it just adds to my list of things to do after school. But don't feel bad or anything, while you're swanning 'round Europe, and I'm suffering at home with homework, violin, sax, dance and singing.
BYE!!!
Oh poor Caitlyn, she has got it so hard:(.
